The Porsche 956 body shell is made from a new mold and is not a 1/12 RM replica. The body shell will be installed on an ABS disc chassis that is easy to assemble. The chassis adopts a space frame and FRP plate structure. This design has been used in the Group C models released by Tamiya in the past.
The overall length of the chassis is 483mm, the width is 207mm, and the height is 108mm. The unique long-tail body, front and rear light housings and tail wings are all individually molded from polycarbonate, and are equipped with black ABS plastic side mirrors and tail wing brackets.
The composite chassis is mainly a bathtub structure, with space frames front and rear, and the bottom is equipped with an FRP plate to form a composite design that provides a solid foundation for a smoothly operating suspension system, making the driving experience more agile and responsive.
The front suspension is designed with independent kingpins and coil springs, while the rear suspension is controlled by a 1.5 mm thick FRP T-bar through CVA oil-filled shock absorbers. The transmission system uses a 2WD direct drive method, with motor power directly transmitted to the main gear with built-in ball differentials. The body is made of polycarbonate material (soft shell), perfectly reproducing the sleek appearance of the Porsche 956.
This new car is equipped with a Sport-Tuned motor (configurations may vary around the world) and uses a direct-drive structure. The gears and pinions are connected through a ball pressure plate differential to provide smooth performance when cornering.
The front wheel uses a closed disc wheel, the rear wheel uses a five-spoke wheel, and is equipped with high-grip sponge tires (the wheels need to be painted by yourself). The product is expected to be released in November 2024, priced at 23,980 yen. The image shows the assembled and painted model state.
