Classic Reborn: FMS 800mm DHC-2 Beaver

In the long history of aviation, the de Havilland Canada DHC-2 “Beaver” stands out as a true icon. Originally designed to meet the demanding need for transporting small groups of people and cargo in remote wilderness areas, it quickly became one of the most respected utility aircraft ever built.

Canada’s vast and rugged terrain—filled with dense forests, mountain ranges, rivers, and lakes—required an aircraft capable of operating in extreme environments. In 1946, based on extensive market research and direct pilot feedback, de Havilland Canada set out to develop a rugged, multi-purpose aircraft capable of operating from almost any surface.

Pilots demanded exceptional Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) performance, with the ability to operate on wheels, skis, or floats. Even though engineers warned that such requirements would compromise cruise efficiency, pilots were clear: as long as it could outperform traditional transport methods like dog sleds and deliver heavy loads to remote locations, it would be a success.

Once introduced, the Beaver became one of the most legendary bush planes of the 20th century. Renowned for its reliability and outstanding STOL capabilities, it served across countless roles including cargo transport, passenger flights, aerial surveying, crop spraying, and general utility aviation.

Today, FMS brings this classic aircraft back to life in a beautifully detailed 800mm wingspan RC model—perfectly balancing portability, scale realism, and flight performance.

The FMS Model

The FMS DHC-2 Beaver is a highly detailed replica of the legendary bush plane, constructed from durable EPO foam. With its 800mm wingspan, it delivers both impressive scale appearance and excellent flight stability, making it ideal for pilots who want a true classic flying experience.

Scale Detail & Realism

This model impresses with carefully crafted scale details, including:

• Highly detailed radial engine replica
• Fine fuselage panel lines and rivet detailing
• Realistic antennas
• Scale wing struts for both accuracy and structural reinforcement
• Robust landing gear with plastic-coated steel wire legs and scale fairings

Every element has been designed to faithfully capture the character of the original aircraft while maintaining durability for everyday flying.

Two authentic colour schemes are included:

• Classic civilian version
• Patrol aircraft version

Both feature high-visibility accents such as bright markings, red wingtips, and yellow propeller tips for improved orientation in flight.

Compact, Powerful & Precise

Powered by a 2S brushless system with a 2315 KV3850 motor, the Beaver delivers smooth, quiet thrust with excellent low-speed control—perfect for scale flying.

Four precision 2g digital servos ensure accurate and responsive control surfaces, providing stability even during slow passes and short-field operations.

Thanks to the tool-free quick-release wing system, the main wing can be removed in seconds, making transport and storage extremely convenient.
