The Baron Kit by Ecotop – A True Classic for RC Enthusiasts
The Ecotop Baron kit is a faithful replica of the legendary RC aircraft designed by Christian Chauzit in the 1960s. A true classic in the world of aeromodelling, this model is the perfect choice for beginners eager to take their first steps into RC flight, as well as for seasoned pilots who enjoy the thrill of the famous “Coupe des Barons”.
This build-it-yourself kit is assembled using the included plans, giving you the freedom to personalize your model — whether by reinforcing it for competitions or setting it up as a traditional 2-axis trainer or a more versatile 3-axis aircraft. The Baron remains instantly recognizable with its multi-spar wing and slightly reduced dihedral, offering smooth handling in both configurations.
While the kit is primarily designed for electric power systems, it can also be adapted to glow engine setups thanks to an optional conversion kit.
Highlights of the Baron:
- Preserves the unique look and flying style of the original Baron.
- Open-structure wings covered with transparent film showcase the beautiful wooden construction.
- As easy to fly as a standard trainer-class 3-axis aircraft.
- Large vintage-style wheels for smooth takeoffs and landings on grass runways.
- Delivered with high-quality fiberglass cowl, pre-built and covered components, and a wide array of scale accessories (pilot bust, machine gun, dummy engine, struts, vintage wheels, decals, and more).
- Can cruise gracefully like a pioneer-era aircraft, but is also capable of performing basic aerobatics.
