aero-naut SPIKE 3.45m 6-Flap Electric Glider Kit
SPIKE — High-Performance 6-Flap Glider with Individual Style
Looking for an RC glider that combines impressive flight performance, sophisticated aerodynamics, and the satisfaction of building something truly your own?
Meet the SPIKE, a high-performance wooden electric glider from aero-naut with an impressive 3.45 m wingspan. Designed for both energetic aerobatics and relaxed thermal soaring, SPIKE offers an exceptional flight envelope for pilots who want one model capable of doing it all.
At Aerobertics, we particularly appreciate models that offer more than just great performance out of the box. SPIKE is a genuine builder's aircraft, giving you the opportunity to create, customize, and fine-tune a unique glider while enjoying the precision and character of traditional wood construction.
Two Fuselage Styles — Your Choice
One of SPIKE's most distinctive features is the possibility to choose between two different fuselage shapes.
You can build the fuselage with the classic rounded profile or choose the more unusual eight-sided design for a completely different visual character.
This means your SPIKE doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
Choose the shape, select your preferred covering material, and create a glider that reflects your own style.
A 3.45m Six-Flap Wing
The impressive 3.45 m wingspan gives SPIKE an excellent combination of efficiency, stability, and performance.
The six control surfaces — combining ailerons and camber/flap functions — allow you to configure the wing for different phases of flight.
Whether you're searching for thermals during a calm evening flight, flying dynamically on a slope, or enjoying energetic aerobatic maneuvers, the wing provides the flexibility to adapt the aircraft to the conditions.
The large control surfaces can also be deployed to approximately 90° as highly effective airbrakes, giving you excellent control over your descent and allowing precise approaches and landings.
Precision Laser-Cut Wooden Construction
SPIKE is supplied as a complete precision laser-cut wooden kit.
Every component is designed for accurate assembly, making the construction process as enjoyable as the flying itself.
The supplied building jig helps you construct the six-flap wing accurately and with minimal risk of warping. This is particularly important on a large glider where even small deviations can affect the final flight characteristics.
For modelers who enjoy the building side of the hobby, SPIKE offers exactly the kind of hands-on experience that is becoming increasingly rare.
Build It Your Way
The partially sheeted wing provides plenty of opportunity for personalization.
Choose the covering material, colors, and finishing details to create a completely individual aircraft.
The included templates and detailed 3D building instructions guide you through the construction process step by step, making the project accessible while still providing plenty of satisfaction for experienced builders.
The result is more than just an RC model — it's an aircraft you have built and finished yourself.
Efficient Electric Power
SPIKE has been designed around an efficient electric power system and is optimized for 3S or 4S LiPo batteries.
The recommended power setup uses the actro-n 35-4-790 motor, paired with a folding propeller.
The low energy requirements make SPIKE particularly well suited to long soaring sessions, while the electric power system provides the climb performance needed to find and exploit thermals.
Please note: Motor, propeller, battery, and other power-system components are available separately unless otherwise specified.
Designed for Different Flying Styles
SPIKE's broad flight envelope makes it suitable for a wide variety of flying conditions.
Thermal Soaring
With a relatively low wing loading starting from approximately 42 g/dm², SPIKE is well suited to efficient thermal flying. Its large wing allows it to cover ground efficiently while searching for rising air.
Dynamic Slope Flying
On the slope, the six-flap wing provides additional flexibility for adapting the aircraft to changing conditions and flying styles.
Aerobatics
When you want to turn up the pace, SPIKE has the control authority needed for energetic aerobatic maneuvers while retaining the stability expected from a large-span glider.
Precise Landings
The six control surfaces can be used as powerful airbrakes, with approximately 90° deployment, making it possible to control the approach and bring this 3.45 m aircraft down accurately even when landing space is limited.

Aerobertics' Take
SPIKE is the kind of model that reminds you why building and flying RC aircraft are two sides of the same hobby.
At Aerobertics, we love the fact that this is not simply another large electric glider that you assemble and fly. SPIKE gives you the opportunity to build a genuinely individual aircraft — from the fuselage shape to the covering and final finish — while offering a remarkably versatile flight envelope once you're at the field.
The 3.45 m wingspan, six-flap wing, low wing loading, efficient electric setup, and powerful airbrake configuration make SPIKE equally interesting for thermal soaring, dynamic slope flying, aerobatics, and precision landings.
For us, that's what makes SPIKE special: a rewarding build, an elegant aircraft, and a serious flying machine — all in one package.
Build it your way. Fly it your way.
