E-flite Timber® 1.5m – 10th Anniversary Special Edition
STOL, Sport & Aerobatic Fun – Now Better Than Ever at Aerobertics
Many RC pilots got their first taste of Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) flying with the original E-flite® Timber® 1.5m, thanks to its friendly handling, nimble sport performance, and “land anywhere” capability. Widely acclaimed as a great “next step” after a trainer, it quickly became one of the most popular and best-selling RC aircraft of all time.
Now, the 10th Anniversary Special Edition celebrates that legacy with the iconic short-nose look and classic trim scheme, combined with all the modern features, upgrades, and convenience expected in today’s Timber models. At Aerobertics, we’re excited to bring you a Timber that’s easier to fly, more durable, and more capable than ever.
Why This Timber Stands Out
Enhanced Features for Today’s Pilot
At Aerobertics, we love that this Timber 1.5m is the perfect “next step” aircraft: ideal for transitioning from a trainer, mastering STOL, exploring sport aerobatics, or just having everyday fun in the sky.
Skill Level 2 – Next Step After a Trainer – Some Experience Required
Skill Level 2 "Next Step" aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who have successfully learned to fly a trainer model and those with the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. Although this is a relatively smooth and stable model, it's not suitable as a first RC aircraft for new pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly a trainer model like the HobbyZone AeroScout 1.1m and Carbon Cub 1.3m, or more advanced trainer models like the E-flite Apprentice STS 1.5m and Habu STS 70mm EDF, before attempting to fly the Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition BNF Basic version.
Bind-N-Fly® Completion Level Advantage
Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos, and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed, so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
Smart Technology
Both the PNP and BNF Basic versions of the Timber 1.5m 1th Anniversary Special Edition are equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian 70-amp Smart Lite ESC that can provide a provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly. Plus, the receiver includes a Smart Transmitter File that allows you automatically import all settings for NX and iX series transmitters during the binding process.
Exclusive Technologies
This BNF Basic version incorporates exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ technology works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence, delivering an even more locked-in feel than standard AS3X, which makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! If you prefer not to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver as usual, and only AS3X+ will be active.
Smart Transmitter File
This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.
Versatile Gear Options
Thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails — even local lakes and ponds — you can fly off these and many other surfaces that are impossible for most models of this size to handle. The stronger, reinforced mounts in the fuselage, combined with shock-absorbing landing gear equipped with heavier-duty springs, absorb the bumps of rough surfaces and not-so-great landings. The oversized, tundra-style wheels and tires provide excellent prop clearance, and the included float set features dual water rudders for superb steering control. Whichever gear option you choose to fly with, you can install both easily and swap them out in minutes.
STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) Capable
The Timber's wing incorporates features like drooped wingtips and functional slotted flaps, and accepts the optional-use leading edge slats (included) for improved slow flight and STOL performance. These features, along with the lightweight design and high-power brushless motor, make it possible to spring into the air or float down to land in as little as a few feet or less.
Flexible Power
The factory-installed brushless power system features a Spektrum Avian 70-amp Smart Lite ESC along with a specially-tuned motor and 2-blade prop that deliver an abundance of thrust with a 3S LiPo battery, or more power and unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery without the need for any modifications or upgrades. Plus, the more convenient top hatch and larger battery compartment make it easier to fit batteries from 3S 2200mAh to 4S 5000mAh to achieve a wide variety of performance and flight times.
Added Durability
Composite-reinforced, hollow-core construction with EPO material delivers a lightweight yet durable airframe. The Timber 1.5m also features a stiffened wing that improves aileron authority and roll rates, plus it includes durable and reliable metal-geared servos all around.
LED Lights
Like the original, the Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition comes with realistic-looking LED landing, navigation, and strobe lights that are factory-installed and powered from the flight battery.
Easy Assembly
Assembly requires no glue, and because the few parts that need assembly easily bolt into place, you can have the Timber 1.5m ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery. The two-piece wing, now featuring combined servo and LED connectors, also makes transport and storage more convenient than ever before..
