Freewing FlightLine P-38L Lightning "Allied Green" 1600mm PNP
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was one of the most distinctive and versatile fighters of the Second World War. A team led by Clarence "Kelly" Johnson and Hal Hibbard developed it, and it was the only American fighter kept in continuous production from before Pearl Harbor in 1941 until after the Japanese surrender in 1945.
More than 9,900 Lightnings were built, 3,810 of them the improved P-38L variant. Its opponents called it the "fork-tailed devil". It served as a fighter, interceptor, reconnaissance aircraft, long-range escort and ground-attack platform, and on 18 April 1943, during Operation Vengeance, P-38s brought down the aircraft carrying Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto.
This FlightLine P-38L by Freewing is officially licensed by Lockheed Martin and is the largest mass-produced foam electric P-38 in the world. The Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes with motors, ESC, servos and retracts already installed, so you only need to add your own receiver, radio and batteries.
Scale Detail You Can See
The twin-boom airframe follows the original closely. It has a scale profile, accurate wing dihedral, a faithful canopy and nacelle shape, and carefully modelled overall proportions. A plastic nose cone and cowls, machine gun details and day-bright LEDs add further realism.
The striking "Bobcat II" livery is applied at the factory, so the model is ready to show off straight out of the box. Additional decal sets are available separately if you would like to refinish your Lightning in a different scheme.
The electric retracts use metal trunnions and 4 mm steel wire struts, and five sequenced, servo-driven gear doors open and close with each gear cycle. Tall foam rubber wheels handle paved runways and short, evenly cut grass with confidence.
Twin-Motor Scale Power
Two 3748-600Kv brushless outrunner motors turn a pair of 12x7 three-blade counter-rotating propellers, which give the Lightning its authentic twin-engine look. The spinner and propeller mounting has been redesigned for better balance.
Running on 4S 14.8V LiPo power, the stock setup has enough power for large consecutive loops and vertical climbs. Level top speed is around 130 km/h (81 mph).
If you want more performance, an optional High Power Upgrade Set is available separately. It contains two 3648 motors, two 12x8 two-blade counter-rotating propellers and two two-blade spinners, and raises top speed to more than 150 km/h (94+ mph).
Plug-N-Play – Bring Your Own Receiver
This PNP version is supplied without a receiver, so you can use the radio system you already trust. Install a minimum 6-channel receiver, bind it to your 6+ channel 2.4GHz transmitter and set up the model to suit your flying style.
Thirteen servos are already fitted. Each rudder has its own dedicated servo, and the four flaps are each driven separately. The receiver and onboard electronics are powered through the installed ESC and its integrated BEC from the main flight battery, and they are rated for a maximum of 5.5V.
Built Strong, Easy to Transport
The whole model is built around a framework of carbon rods and reinforcement points. This keeps the airframe rigid during high-speed manoeuvres while the Lightning still flies gently and predictably.
Each outer wing comes off with just four screws, which makes transport and storage much easier. With the outer wings removed, the P-38 still stands on all three wheels.
The roomy cockpit area holds a wide range of 4S batteries and leaves plenty of space for your electronics. You can fly with one battery per side, or use a single 5000mAh pack with a suitable adapter.

The Fork-Tailed Devil – Ready for Your Radio at Aerobertics
Few warbirds look as unmistakable as the twin-boom P-38 Lightning. At 1600 mm, this FlightLine replica has real presence on the flight line.
With counter-rotating three-blade propellers, sequenced gear doors, four flaps, day-bright LEDs and a rigid carbon-reinforced airframe, it combines scale character with stable, forgiving flight.
At Aerobertics, we like giving pilots the freedom to set up their models their own way, and the PNP version is the ideal choice if you already have a preferred radio system and receiver.
Fit your electronics, charge your 4S packs and take this legendary Lockheed twin into the sky.
