HSDJETS S-EDF 120mm HL-39 – PNP
Large-Scale 120mm EDF Jet with High-Performance Electric Power System
The HSDJETS S-EDF 120mm HL-39 is a large-scale electric ducted fan jet designed for experienced RC pilots looking for a highly detailed, powerful and impressive EDF aircraft.
With a 1665mm wingspan, 1916mm overall length and a flying weight of approximately 8.3kg, the HL-39 combines substantial presence on the flight line with the performance expected from a modern 120mm EDF jet.
The PNP version comes equipped with the complete electric power system, servos, retractable landing gear, lighting system and HSDJETS MFC-2085 control system. All that is required to get the aircraft airborne is an appropriate 8-channel radio system and receiver, the specified LiPo batteries and a suitable LiPo charger.
At Aerobertics, we particularly appreciate the HL-39 for its combination of scale presence, sophisticated onboard equipment and straightforward PNP configuration. It is a serious EDF model for pilots who want a large, feature-packed jet without having to install the complete power system and servos themselves.
120mm EDF Power System
At the heart of the HL-39 is the HSDJETS S-EDF 120mm 10-blade fan, powered by a 5268-640KV inner-rotor motor.
The power system is controlled by a 160A Hobbywing brushless ESC, providing the high-current capability required by this large 12S-class EDF setup.
The recommended propulsion battery configuration is:
HSDJETS specifies a flying time of approximately 3–5 minutes, depending on flying style, throttle use, battery condition and operating conditions.
Advanced MFC-2085 Control System
The HL-39 is equipped with the HSDJETS MFC-2085 control system.
The aircraft is supplied with an extensive servo installation covering the primary flight controls, landing gear doors, nose-wheel steering and speed brake.
The installed servo configuration includes:
The 7.4V 12g servos feature a 380mm lead and protection function, while the 25g metal-gear flight-control servos use 90mm leads, according to the manufacturer's specification.
Fully Retractable Landing Gear
The HL-39 features a complete set of all-metal, electrically retractable landing gear with hydraulic-style scale simulation.
The three-point landing gear system consists of:
The model also incorporates an electromagnetic brake system, adding greater control during taxiing and landing.
Flight Controls
The HL-39 provides a comprehensive set of primary and secondary flight controls:
The aircraft also incorporates an LED lighting system, adding functionality and improving visibility during flight.
A reinforced gyro is not included with the aircraft. An optional external stabilization system can therefore be added according to the pilot's preference.
Large-Scale Construction
The HL-39 is constructed from 35-times EPO, providing a lightweight yet robust airframe suitable for a large EDF model.
The factory finish uses matte environmental water-based paint and decals.
The aircraft is supplied as a PNP model with the major electronic and mechanical components already installed, significantly reducing assembly time compared with a traditional kit.
HSDJETS rates the model as suitable for intermediate-level pilots.
The manufacturer gives an approximate 30-minute PNP assembly time, although actual assembly time will depend on the pilot's experience and radio installation.

Recommended Battery Setup
Main Power Batteries
The manufacturer specifies:
2 × 6S 22.2V 5200mAh 45C LiPo batteries
This provides the recommended 12S propulsion configuration for the 120mm EDF power system.
Receiver Batteries
The HL-39 requires:
2 × 2S 7.4V LiPo batteries
Recommended capacity:
2200–5200mAh
Charger
A suitable LiPo battery charger is required and is not included.
Because the aircraft uses separate propulsion and receiver battery systems, your charger should be capable of safely charging the required LiPo configurations.
Radio Requirements
An 8-channel radio system and receiver are required.
The radio equipment is not included in the PNP package.
Pilots should ensure that their receiver and transmitter provide sufficient channels and compatibility for the aircraft's flight controls and onboard MFC-2085 system.
Centre of Gravity
HSDJETS specifies the centre of gravity at:
105–110mm from the leading edge of the main wing.
Correct CG positioning is essential for safe and predictable flight characteristics. Always check and confirm the CG before the maiden flight, particularly after installing batteries or changing onboard equipment.
What's Included
The PNP package includes the major airframe components and accessories required for assembly.
What You Need to Complete the Model
The following items are required and not included:
Assembly & Experience Level
The HL-39 is classified by HSDJETS as an intermediate-level model.
Although supplied in PNP configuration with the motor, EDF, ESC, servos, landing gear and control electronics installed, the model still requires final assembly, radio installation, battery installation, control checks and complete pre-flight setup.
The manufacturer indicates approximately 30 minutes of PNP assembly time.
For a model of this size and weight, we recommend that pilots carefully follow the supplied assembly and pre-flight instructions and perform a complete range-of-motion, control direction, landing gear, brake and power-system check before the first flight.
Packaging
The HL-39 is supplied in an EPO inner box with an outer shipping carton.
Overall packaging dimensions are approximately:
1343 × 515 × 450mm
Given the size of the completed model and its packaging, we recommend planning appropriate transport and storage space before ordering.
At Aerobertics
The HL-39 is exactly the kind of EDF jet that deserves a place in a serious RC hangar.
At Aerobertics, we like the combination of scale presence, large 120mm EDF power and the amount of equipment already installed in this PNP version. The factory-installed 160A Hobbywing ESC, 120mm 10-blade EDF, metal-gear servos, electric retracts, electromagnetic brakes, LED lighting and MFC-2085 control system make the HL-39 a particularly well-equipped platform straight out of the box.
With its nearly 2-metre fuselage and 8.3kg flying weight, this is not a small park flyer — it is a substantial EDF jet designed to make an impression both in the air and on the flight line.
For pilots stepping up to larger EDF models, the HL-39 offers a highly equipped PNP package while leaving the choice of radio system, receiver and battery setup in the hands of the pilot.
Aerobertics recommendation: take the time to set up the aircraft correctly, pay particular attention to the specified CG and control throws, and use high-quality LiPo batteries capable of delivering the current demanded by a 120mm 12S EDF system. Once properly set up, the HL-39 is a spectacular addition to any RC jet collection.
