The KAVAN PC-21 is an officially licensed scale reproduction of the legendary Pilatus PC-21, faithfully capturing the distinctive appearance and impressive flight characteristics of the full-size aircraft.
Developed in close cooperation with Pilatus Aircraft Ltd., this beautifully detailed RC model combines authentic scale styling with modern electric performance. From its fully detailed cockpit and painted pilots to its bright LED lighting and sprung retractable landing gear, every aspect has been designed to deliver a convincing scale experience both on the ground and in the air.
With its combination of excellent stability, impressive manoeuvrability and strong power, the PC-21 is capable of everything from smooth scale cruising and realistic approaches to aerobatics and spectacular high-speed fly-bys.
Please note that, despite the full-size PC-21 being designed as a military trainer, the RC version is not intended as a beginner's trainer. Its speed, size and manoeuvrability make prior experience with faster RC aircraft highly recommended.
A Truly Detailed Scale Aircraft
The KAVAN PC-21 goes well beyond simply reproducing the aircraft's silhouette.
The reinforced EPO foam airframe features the characteristic shapes and proportions of the original aircraft, complemented by numerous moulded and plastic scale details.
The cockpit is particularly impressive. Behind the highly transparent canopy you'll find a fully decorated cockpit interior with painted pilots and authentic-looking instrumentation. The pilot modules are secured with screws, making them easy to remove and replace without cutting or gluing.
The spacious cockpit also provides enough room for installing your own pilot figures or an FPV system, allowing you to further personalise the model.
Impressive Presence in the Air
With a 1450mm wingspan and 1804mm length, the PC-21 has an impressive presence without becoming impractical to transport.
Once equipped with the recommended electronics and battery, the model weighs just over 4kg. This combination of size and weight gives the PC-21 a convincing scale presence in flight while providing excellent stability during take-off, cruising and landing.
At the same time, the powerful propulsion system gives the aircraft the performance required for fast passes, strong climbs and aerobatic manoeuvres.
Five-Blade Turboprop Look with Modern Electric Power
The PC-21 is powered by a C5055-470KV brushless motor driving a realistic 13×10-inch five-blade propeller.
The five-blade setup beautifully reproduces the appearance of the full-size turboprop while providing the thrust needed to make the model perform as impressively as it looks.
A KAVAN R-100SB Plus 100A ESC is factory installed, featuring a powerful switching SBEC designed to provide reliable power to all eight onboard servos and the aircraft's electronic systems.
For the recommended setup, KAVAN specifies a 22.2V 4500–6000mAh 6S LiPo battery, with at least 40C discharge capability and 60C preferred. Battery selection should also take the model's centre of gravity into account, potentially avoiding the need for additional ballast.
Scale Retractable Landing Gear
One of the highlights of the PC-21 is its fully retractable tricycle landing gear.
All three landing gear legs are spring-loaded to absorb bumps and imperfections in the runway, helping produce smooth, realistic scale take-offs and landings.
The steerable nose gear is linked to the rudder system and incorporates a high-intensity landing and taxi light, adding both realism and practical visibility.
The result is a remarkably convincing sequence from taxiing and take-off through to final approach and touchdown.
Bright LED Lighting
The PC-21 features an extensive integrated LED lighting system.
The nose gear carries a powerful landing and taxi light, while the wings incorporate both navigation/position lights and anti-collision lights.
The high-brightness LEDs remain clearly visible even in daylight, making it easier to maintain orientation while adding an impressive scale effect during evening flights.
Reinforced Two-Piece Wing
The two-piece EPO wing is reinforced with two carbon tube joiners and secured to the fuselage using four bolts.
Ailerons and flaps are controlled by dedicated servos installed in the wing, with short wire pushrods providing a clean and efficient control system.
The flaps are mounted on four robust pylons, contributing to the PC-21's excellent low-speed handling and realistic approach characteristics.
The wing also incorporates the model's position and landing lights, keeping the installation clean and scale-oriented.

About the Full-Size Pilatus PC-21
The real Pilatus PC-21 is a modern military turboprop trainer developed by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. It was designed to bridge the gap between traditional propeller aircraft and high-performance jet fighters.
Powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68B 1,200kW turboprop engine, the PC-21 combines high performance with advanced avionics and is used for both basic and advanced military flight training.
Its capabilities allow pilots to progress towards modern high-performance combat aircraft, while the broader Pilatus training system can also support the training of navigators, weapons system operators and electronic warfare personnel.
The first prototype flew in 2002, and the PC-21 has since entered service with air forces and training organisations around the world.
Our Take at Aerobertics
At Aerobertics, the KAVAN PC-21 immediately caught our attention because it manages to combine the best aspects of a scale model with genuinely exciting flight performance.
The five-blade propeller, retractable landing gear, detailed cockpit, painted pilots and extensive LED lighting give it an exceptional presence on the ground. But this is not a model that sacrifices performance for scale detail.
Once airborne, the PC-21 feels every bit as purposeful as its full-size inspiration — stable when you want it to be, manoeuvrable when you ask for it and fast enough to make those low passes seriously addictive.
We particularly appreciate the attention to detail in the cockpit and landing gear, as well as the practical design of the battery installation and removable canopy.
