TAM35392
First delivered to units in July 1940, the Pak 38 5cm was a successor to the 3.7cm Pak 36. It featured design upgrades such as a muzzle brake, aluminum alloy trail legs, and a gun shield composed of two sheets of 4mm plate; using Panzergranate 39 shells it defeated 61mm of 60-degree armor from 500 meters. First deployed in the Balkan theater in Spring 1941, the Pak 38 also saw action in the invasion of the Soviet Union, crossing swords with the famed T-34 and KV-1, while in North Africa it fought against the Matilda and Valentine British tanks. 9,600 of this trusty weapon were manufactured up to 1943.
About the Model
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit.
Highlights of this detailed model include the sighting device, operator’s handles, cradle, and breech.
Separate parts are used for the twin curved armor plates, tire tread and shovel-equipped lower shield.
Even partially hidden areas like the mount, cradle and trail leg connecting sections have a realistic finish.
Four figures – including gunner and commanding officer – are depicted in typical WWII attire, and are joined by rounds and ammo cases with a choice of open or closed lid. The kit can be assembled with one of the rounds out of its case.
This kit lends itself perfectly to tank battle dioramas.
Choose open or closed trail legs, and a towed or firing gun.
The towed gun has its auxiliary wheel on the trail legs, and the lower shield flipped up.
Why not pair this kit with our separately sold Hanomag model (Item 35020)?
