The Curtiss P-40C Tomahawk is a World War II-era fighter aircraft developed by Curtiss-Wright Corporation. It is an early variant of the P-40 Warhawk series, known for its distinctive shark mouth nose art. The P-40C features an all-metal construction, low-wing design, and retractable landing gear. It is powered by an Allison V-1710 V-12 engine, providing a top speed of around 345 mph. Armed with two .50 caliber machine guns in the nose and two .30 caliber machine guns in the wings, the P-40C was used primarily by the United States Army Air Corps and allied forces for both air-to-air combat and ground-attack missions. Its rugged design, good diving characteristics, and reliability made it a valuable asset in early WWII combat theaters.
