Tiger II “Königstiger” – The Royal Powerhouse of WWII Engineering at Aerobertics
Developed in 1943 and officially produced by Henschel from 1944, the Tiger II, also known as the Königstiger or Royal Tiger, represented the pinnacle of German tank engineering during the Second World War. Combining exceptional armor protection and formidable firepower, it stood as one of the most powerful tanks ever built.
With frontal armor up to 150 mm thick, the Tiger II was virtually impervious to the guns of Allied tanks. Its heavily armored hull, with sides up to 80 mm thick, made it an almost unstoppable force on the battlefield.
Despite enduring repeated Allied air raids on the Henschel factory in Kassel—which destroyed prototypes and around 50 vehicles equipped with the Porsche turret—a total of 492 Tiger II tanks were delivered to German units. However, many never reached the front lines due to mechanical issues, the tank’s massive weight, or a shortage of fuel in the final stages of the war.
