History : The Fokker Eindecker, often abbreviated as the Fokker E-series, was a family of German monoplane fighter aircraft used during World War I. Designed by Dutch engineer Anthony Fokker, these aircraft were the first to feature a synchronized machine gun that could fire through the propeller arc without hitting the blades, a revolutionary advancement in aerial combat.
The Eindecker series included several variants, notably the E.I, E.II, E.III, and E.IV, with improvements in engine power and armament. They were characterized by a high-mounted, cantilever wing and a sleek, streamlined fuselage. The aircraft were typically powered by a rotary engine and were armed with one or two fixed forward-firing machine guns.
The introduction of the Fokker Eindecker in 1915 gave the German air force a significant advantage, leading to the period known as the "Fokker Scourge," during which Allied aircraft were at a distinct disadvantage. The Eindecker's combination of maneuverability and firepower made it a formidable fighter and an important step in the evolution of military aviation.
